Supreme Court Justice Application 2017-2018

Supreme Court Justice Application

As a Supreme Court Justice, you will be expected to possess the following qualities:

  • You are able to work with the Chief Justice to conduct a trial on a day's notice.  (Specific Titles of the SGA bylaws stipulate the number of days the court needs to conduct a trial after receiving a petition.  This can be one day to three days given the nature of the petition.)
  • You can separate your personal interests from your duties as a judge in order to maintain a fair and equitable judicial process.
  • You are good at dissecting both oral and written arguments, as well as interpreting governing documents.
  • You can be professional in stressful situations where you may disagree with your peers.

You do not have to be a legal expert to be a justice.  As a student run government, we provide an educational experience for everyone involved; however, it is a good idea to have an understanding of the judicial process and familiarity with the Student Government Association's Constitution and Bylaws (sga.okstate.edu).

Please submit your application by Friday, September 15, 2017 at 5 PM.  Please attach a current resume with your application.

If you have any additional questions, please contact Gonzalo Morillas morillas@okstate.edu and / or Erica Stephens ericabs@okstate.edu.
