Supreme Court Justice Application 

As a Supreme Court Justice, you will be expected to possess the following qualities:

  • You are able to work with the Chief Justice to conduct a trial on a day's notice.  (Specific Titles of the SGA bylaws stipulate the number of days the court needs to conduct a trial after receiving a petition.  This can be one day to three days given the nature of the petition.)
  • You can separate your personal interests from your duties as a judge in order to maintain a fair and equitable judicial process.
  • You are good at dissecting both oral and written arguments, as well as interpreting governing documents.
  • You can be professional in stressful situations where you may disagree with your peers.

You do not have to be a legal expert to be a justice.  As a student run government, we provide an educational experience for everyone involved; however, it is a good idea to have an understanding of the judicial process and familiarity with the Student Government Association's Constitution and Bylaws (
